Job summary

Alstom in Copenhagen seeks an experienced EHS Project Manager to lead environment, health, and safety efforts across projects. You will implement emergency plans, monitor compliance, and drive continuous safety improvements with cross-functional teams among PM, HR, manufacturing, and finance.

You will manage audits, coordinate subcontractor EHS activities, travel between Copenhagen and Aarhus, develop training and communication plans, and report monthly EHS metrics while upholding AZDP and TOPE

Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field and health & safety qualification.
• 5–8 years of professional experience with 3+ years in EHS roles.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Familiarity with local EHS regulations and railway sector is a plus.
• Strong teamwork, leadership, and analytical mindset.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your expertise in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) to a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and proactive team dedicated to delivering excellence.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our people and contractors while minimizing environmental impacts and protecting Alstom’s assets. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Management, Human Resources, Manufacturing, and Finances), liaise with external stakeholders (local authorities, auditors, and other partners), and lead initiatives to embed EHS standards across projects and operations.

You'll specifically take care of implementing emergency plans and monitoring compliance with statutory and company requirements, but also lead accident prevention efforts and foster a culture of safety and sustainability.

We’ll look to you for:

Ensuring EHS risk assessments are conducted and control measures are defined for projects.

Preparing, implementing, and maintaining emergency plans at the project level.

Overseeing sub-contractor activities to ensure EHS compliance, especially in interface areas.

Coaching and assessing EHS teams, while supporting project staffing and execution phases.

Deploying Alstom EHS standards and tools, including the Alstom Zero Deviation Plan (AZDP) and Transport Operational Performance in Environment (TOPE).

Monitoring compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual, and company EHS requirements.

Leading accident prevention efforts, investigating incidents, and sharing lessons learned through REX reports.

Preparing and submitting monthly EHS reports and ensuring data quality for the project.

Building and implementing EHS communication and training plans

Carry out internal EHS audits and manage the associated improvement plans.

• Collaboration in the preparation and implementation of audits (internal and external)
• Willingness to travel between sites in Copenhagen & Århus and manage time according to the business needs (with some night/evening work)

University degree in relevant dicipline

Health & Safety qualification

Professional experience of 5–8 years, including 3+ years in EHS roles and projects.

Knowledge and understanding of ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.

Familiarity with local legal EHS requirements.

Experience in the railway industry (desirable).

Strong teamwork and leadership skills.

Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Proficiency in computer tools and systems.
