Job summary

ABB in Skien, Norway is seeking a Flow Simulation & Cost Engineer to model production flows, estimate costs, and define Target Production Time for scalable manufacturing. You will bridge manufacturing engineering, operations, and cost management, translating simulations into actionable insights.

The role reports to Production Engineering Manager, with opportunities to drive early-stage cost estimations and support industrial decisions in an international setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
• Documented experience with discrete event simulation, preferably FlexSim.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, production flows, and capacity planning.
• Experience with cost analysis and cost estimation.

Responsibilities

• Perform time studies with production using MTM and/or REFA methodologies.
• Optimize factory and line layouts to improve throughput and material flow.
• Develop and run production flow simulations using FlexSim.
• Perform scenario analyses to evaluate alternative processes, layout, and capacity concepts.
• Conduct capacity modeling for current and future volume scenarios.
• Analyze production cost drivers and perform cost analysis across different scenarios.
• Deliver early-stage cost estimations to support product and industrialization decisions.
• Collaborate with Production, Process Technology Department, Product Development Engineers and Controlling.
