Job summary

SAM International is seeking a Technical Procurement Specialist to join the team onsite in Fribourg. You will manage a portfolio of suppliers, negotiate terms, and ensure efficient supply for clients, while maintaining autonomy within a flat hierarchy.

Responsibilities include supplier development, sourcing, logistics coordination, and collaboration with the team to optimize orders and coverage. Travel to Asia and Africa is expected.

Qualifications

Our client, an international company with HQ in Fribourg, is looking for a Technical Procurement Specialist to join the team in Fribourg. The job is 100% onsite.

In an environment where responsiveness and cost optimization are key, we are looking for a Procurement Specialist capable of managing a portfolio of suppliers, negotiating the best terms, and ensuring efficient supply for our clients. Autonomous and organized, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing their own purchasing activities and working collaboratively with the team to guarantee high-performing service.

Your responsibilities:

• Managing and developing the supplier portfolio.
• Regular contact with all current suppliers.
• Sourcing new suppliers to challenge price, quality, and service.
• Developing new business relationships and optimizing existing partnerships.
• Monitoring deliveries, managing follow-ups, and organizing export logistics.
• Managing purchasing administration, including documentary submissions and associated invoicing.
• Collaboration and autonomy within the team.
• Independently managing the internal client portfolio.
• Collaborating with the team to share progress, pool orders, organize consolidations, and provide coverage in case of absence.
• Working within a flat hierarchy.
• Visits to suppliers and internal customers, primarily in Asia and Africa. Expect approx. 20 days of travel per year.

Your Profile:

• MBA, certification in purchasing, supply chain, vocational diploma (CFC), or equivalent qualification
• Experience: min. 5-6 years, ideally in import/export and technical purchasing

Skills and Knowledge:

• Experience in purchasing technical equipment (mechanical, spare parts, industrial equipment).
• Good understanding of international logistics issues (Incoterms).
• Work experience in Africa or Asia is an asset.
• Native French and English speaker (C1 level required).
