Job summary

DTU Civil and Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a two-year research position focusing on modelling offshore floating infrastructures and their positioning systems. You will collaborate with European academic and industrial partners, develop coupled hydro-aero-servo-elastic models in OpenFast, and contribute to teaching MSc students.

The required qualification is a PhD or equivalent with strong marine hydrodynamics and mooring experience.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
  • Strong background in marine hydrodynamics and mooring or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate a fully coupled hydro-aero-servo-elastic floating offshore wind turbine model in OpenFast.
  • Develop data-driven surrogate models for floater motion, mooring tension, and dynamic response of tower.
  • Develop algorithms that can combine limited measurements and environmental/operational inputs to reconstruct full-field structural states – e.g., stress/strain maps over the tower and mooring lines.
  • Establish framework to evaluate fatigue damage based on the developed surrogate models to update remaining useful life of key components.
  • Contribute to research-based teaching and supervision of MSc students.
