Job summary

Aalborg University invites applications for a postdoctoral position in modelling and structural optimization of composite structures. The role emphasizes computational approaches, FE modelling and optimization for lightweight designs such as wind turbine blades.

You will join the Solid and Computational Mechanics group, contributing to teaching, supervision and dissemination of research results while collaborating with industry partners when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • PhD in mechanical engineering or closely related field.
  • Strong background in solid and computational mechanics.
  • Experience with finite element methods and numerical models for structural analysis.
  • Experience with structural optimization (sizing, shape, topology) of composites.
  • Ability to teach and supervise, and coordinate with programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in modelling, optimization and design of composite and sandwich structures.
  • Develop and apply FE-based models for static strength, fatigue and design optimization.
  • Perform high-performance computing tasks and simulations.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision at bachelor and master levels.
  • Disseminate research results through publications and conferences.
