Job summary

Skatteguiden is seeking a Platform Application Engineer to own the shared application layer in a microservices setup. You will design and operate backend services powering payments, identity, and third-party integrations, while enabling product teams to build confidently.

You’ll collaborate across product teams to improve reliability, observability, and security, with a strong focus on developer experience and end-to-end ownership in production environments.

Qualifications

• Must-have: senior backend or platform engineer with experience building and operating shared services at scale, treating it as a product.
• Hands-on experience deploying and debugging services on Kubernetes in production.
• Experience designing MySQL schemas for production and performance.
• Knowledge of message brokers like RabbitMQ and event-driven patterns.
• Understanding of identity and authorization (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT) and security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the shared application platform and design core backend services for payments, identity, authorization, and integrations.
• Build and maintain payment services with reliable, observable flows in a modular architecture.
• Own identity and authorization systems, including OAuth flows, token management, and audit trails.
• Integrate security/privacy controls into the application layer with GDPR and ISO 27001 in mind.
• Integrate third-party systems and maintain an approachable developer experience via shared libraries and tooling.
