Job summary

Flatpay is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to define the technical direction of its online payments platform. You will help build scalable backend systems, APIs, and services powering online commerce experiences.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, own features end-to-end, and drive architectural decisions while mentoring others. This role is based in Copenhagen with a strong collaborative culture and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems.
• Ability to lead technical projects involving multiple engineers.
• Experience building scalable backend platforms and APIs.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping new products.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in payments, fintech, e-commerce, SaaS or high-scale systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable systems powering online payments and commerce experiences.
• Lead feature and platform initiatives across multiple engineers.
• Own features from design through deployment and maintenance.
• Drive architectural decisions and long-term improvements.
• Build APIs, services, and integrations for online payments.
• Improve reliability, observability, performance and security.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs and stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
• Mentor engineers through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Help establish engineering standards as the Online domain grows.
