DTU Wind and Energy Systems in Roskilde invites applications for a PhD position in fracture mechanics and composite materials. Qualifications

  • Two-year master’s degree or equivalent.
  • Solid background in solid mechanics and FEM.
  • Experience with experimental testing and translating data to models.
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mixed-mode traction-separation laws into cohesive zone models (e.g., ABAQUS).
  • Conduct fracture mechanics testing on medium-size specimens in the lab.
  • Compare CZM predictions with experimental crack-growth data.
  • Perform microscale damage analysis using AE, SEM, and X-ray tomography.
  • Co-supervise BSc and MSc projects in the area.
