Job summary

BWSC seeks a Mechanical Technician to maintain and troubleshoot energy plant equipment in a challenging energy environment. You will report to the Maintenance Team Leader/Manager and coordinate 3rd party suppliers to ensure safety, reliability and efficiency, while following CMMS and RAMS procedures.

Key tasks include planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, spares control, and engineering support for fuel handling and plant systems.

Qualifications

• ONC/C&G/NVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering with hands-on plant maintenance experience.
• Good understanding of HSE; IOSH Managing Safely preferred.
• Experience in maintenance role with permit and safety systems (WSE/LOLER/PSSR).
• Knowledge of steam turbines, combustion systems, WTP, generators and emissions abatement.
• Ability to read P&ID and isometrics; Microsoft Office; CMMS experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant per OEM guidance and legislation to maximise availability.
• Support daily planned maintenance and submit CMMS/Safety RAMS as required.
• Diagnose faults and repair with operations team and 3rd party support.
• Improve plant reliability while maintaining safety and environmental standards.
• Provide supervision to 3rd party providers and review RAMS.
• Keep CMMS updated with historical works.
• Manage contracts with 3rd party service providers for maintenance.
• Perform engineering integrity assessments (e.g., floor gratings, handrails).
• Provide engineering support to fuel handling and operations for issue resolution.
• Control and replenish mechanical spares and conduct outage planning.
• Help develop site procedures to stay accurate and sufficient.
