Job summary

BWSC is seeking a proactive QHSE Advisor to manage the operation of quality, health, safety and environmental aspects at the Brigg plant. You will drive reliability, availability and compliance while supporting production and maintenance teams.

The role requires NEBOSH or IOSH qualification, with experience in large facilities or power plants, plus strong communication and CMMS proficiency. The position is full-time on a 2-year fixed term contract with national travel potential.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification with broad HSE knowledge.
  • Experience in large processing facilities or power stations is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor HS&E KPIs and drive improvement programmes.
  • Provide HSE guidance to plant teams and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Liaise with third-party bodies and report key metrics.
  • Act as site focus for compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Support Production and Maintenance with expertise as required.
  • Assist in change management ensuring Safety Rules clearance for projects.
  • Audit emergency preparedness and run drills.
  • Share lessons from serious incidents via regional SHEQ.
  • Carry out training and authorisations under BWSC Safety Rules.
  • Ensure daily off-loading system checks and site traffic management.
  • Assist operations to return plant to service after maintenance or outages.

What are we looking for?

Do you have a desire to work for a renewable energy provider? What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Plant Manager you will manage the operation of all quality, health and safety and environmental aspects of the plant. You will foster an ethos of maximum plant reliability, flexibility and availability whilst still attaining high standards of quality, health and safety & environmental performance and compliance.

Summary of key responsibilities:
  • Monitor and promote Company operational and HS&E KPIs and drive a program which delivers against these.
  • Provide HSE guidance to the plant team and support corporate initiatives whilst ensuring that statutory requirements and company policies and procedures are developed, reviewed, communicated and implemented appropriately.
  • Liaise with all third-party legislative bodies and provide reports as required concerning key metrics such as safety statistics, environmental performance, availability, efficiency and outage rate statistics.
  • Act as the site focus for compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
  • Support the Production and Maintenance teams with experience and knowledge as required.
  • Support the management of change process, assisting to ensure that all new projects are Safety Rules Cleared before they are brought into the system.
  • Audit the Emergency preparedness of the team and set up frequent drills to test response.
  • Support RCA internal and cross site RCA investigations and promptly share the lessons of all serious safety incidents through Regional SHEQ.
  • Carry out training and authorisations for duties under the BWSC UK Safety Rules as required.
  • Ensure day to day compliance with all aspects of the off-loading systems including, daily routine lifting equipment inspections including on site traffic management systems and any other checks to systems within your area duties.
  • Assist the operations team to ensure that plant is in a fit and correct state for return to service following maintenance, outage or other prolonged shutdown.
Qualifications & Knowledge to succeed:
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualified with a good understanding of all HSE aspects. Qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience.
  • Prior experience in Operations and/or Maintenance of a large processing facility or similar; ideally a power station or similar Thermal power production infrastructure.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with all stakeholders.
  • A self-motivated and adaptable personality who is suited to a culture which is entrepreneurial, fast paced and value driven.
  • Strong organisational and prioritising skills
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite and ideally previous CMMS experience.
