Job summary

CERN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the development, procurement, assembly, testing and installation of mechanical structures for the HGCAL within the CMS experiment. You will oversee surface assembly, testing, and the underground installation of a 250-tonne detector.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong track record in planning and coordinating large mechanical structures.
• Experience with thermal and structural calculations using FEA.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technicians in assembling and testing steel structures of HGCAL (200+ tonnes per endcap).
• Provide engineering support for large-scale detector components and cold testing of electromagnetic cassettes.
• Integrate hadronic and electromagnetic cassettes with cabling and piping, and support surface testing.
