Job summary

CERN is seeking an Applied Physicist to join the ATLAS Group for upgrading the muon spectrometer. You will lead electronics integration in new RPC detectors, oversee pre-production board tests, and assist with installation in the ATLAS cavern.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent relevant experience in Physics or related field.
• Strong experience in design, debugging and operations of fast electronics boards for gaseous detectors.
• Experience operating and commissioning gaseous detectors.
• Ability to lead teams in mid-size to small groups.

Responsibilities

• Test and validate pre-production Front-End, Low Voltage, and connection boards.
• Coordinate QA/QC activities.
• Support integration of electronics boards into RPC detectors.
• Participate in QA/QC testing of fully equipped chambers.
• Debug problematic chambers and coordinate tests before/after installation.
• Act as main contact between RPC project and Technical Coordination during installation.
• Coordinate detector commissioning after installation.
