Job summary

Welltec invites a proactive Mechanical Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team in Denmark. You will develop new tools, conduct 3D mechanical design in CATIA, and participate in testing and verification of prototypes.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, experience with DFMEA, and collaboration across mechanical, electrical and software engineers. You should be comfortable traveling to project sites and supporting testing activities as needed, contributing to innovative Welltec

The department

Welltec as a company is a truly global diverse team with over 60 nationalities in total. At Welltec, you will join our mechanical department situated in our Design & Engineering (D&E) function which currently consists of 33 colleagues with various educational backgrounds and nationalities. The D&E function also includes electronic and software engineers. In D&E we also work in smaller project groups – Mechanical-, Electrical- and Software Engineers together - in order to get a holistic approach to our products and tools and to benefit from each other’s knowledge and expertise. In D&E, the work environment is informal, creative and fun but at times it can be complex, challenging, and fast-paced.

The team that you will join is responsible for the development and maintenance of Welltec’s proprietary well intervention technologies, ranging from our Well Tractor with more than 20 years of service time to new and innovative technologies which we constantly introduce to the market through our global footprint.

The position

Your tasks will include:

• Develop new tools to solve cutting-edge problems.
• Work on technical projects through all development phases.
• Work in teams on development projects with both individual and shared responsibilities.
• Conceptualization and feasibility studies.
• Design reviews guided by DFM, FMEA principles and robust design thinking.
• 3D mechanical design.
• Plan, prepare and perform practical functional and verification testing of prototypes, tools and systems.
• Apply a structured and systematic approach to troubleshooting and root cause analysis during practical testing and development.
• Troubleshoot both existing solutions and new solutions under development, combining engineering analysis with hands‑on testing.
• Provide guidance and input within your specific areas of expertise across the organization.
• Participate in project-related travel when required, including support for testing, troubleshooting, qualification activities and other project needs at Welltec locations, suppliers or customer sites.

The candidate

You are proactive in your daily tasks and have an analytical and critical approach to problem solving. You have a quick, creative mind with a natural understanding of complex concepts and systems.

The ideal candidate is someone who gets excited by technology, practical engineering and open-ended challenges. You are comfortable moving between engineering analysis, CAD design and hands‑on testing, and you approach technical problems in a structured and systematic way.

In order to perform well in this role, you should have the following qualifications or similar competencies:

The preferred candidate has the following profile:

• Mechanical Engineer B.Sc., M.Sc. or similar background.
• Experience from the energy sector, hydraulics, precision mechanics, electromechanical systems, mechatronics, oilfield or similar.
• Possesses relevant deep technical knowledge and is able to apply it broadly with impact.
• Takes ownership of tasks and projects and enjoys broad responsibility.
• Strong hands‑on engineering mindset with experience in practical functional testing, verification and systematic troubleshooting.
• Able to translate test observations and failures into root causes, design improvements and clear next actions.
• Agile Project Management skills.
• Knows when to supervise and delegate tasks to maximize efficiency and avoid bottlenecks.
• Experienced CAD user in CATIA or a similar system.
• Willing and able to travel as required to support project activities, testing and technical problem solving.
