JAM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to deliver mechanical installations on major data centre projects in Denmark. You will coordinate design information, review submittals, and ensure technical compliance across disciplines from design through commissioning.

The role requires 5+ years of project engineering experience in mechanical contracting, with strong knowledge of building services and a proactive, analytical approach.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
  • 5+ years' project engineering in mechanical contracting.
  • Experience in data centres or similar complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services and installation.
  • Experience with technical submittals, design reviews and coordinated drawings.
  • Ability to conduct system walkdowns and identify issues.
  • Good commercial awareness and project delivery understanding.
  • Knowledge of EHS, quality and construction management processes.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical design information, drawings and documentation.
  • Review project specs, drawings and submittals.
  • Produce and review coordinated installation drawings.
  • Support cross-discipline design coordination.
  • Attend handovers and technical coordination meetings.
  • Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage RFIs and resolve design queries.
  • Support progress reporting and project documentation.
  • Review submittals for compliance.
  • Coordinate equipment and material requisitions/deliveries.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and monitor performance.
  • Conduct quality inspections and snagging of systems.
  • Review P&IDs and layout drawings for project specs.
  • Assist with test packs preparation and tracking.
  • Prepare method statements and risk assessments.
  • Support project commercial activities (variations, take-offs).
  • Maintain project records and document control.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Mechanical Engineer – Data Centre Projects

Are you a Mechanical Engineer with experience delivering complex construction projects?

I'm currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading engineering and construction organisation delivering major data centre and mission-critical projects in Denmark.

This is a project-focused role where you'll work closely with the Project Manager, design teams, contractors and site teams to coordinate the mechanical installation from design and engineering through to completion and commissioning.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for the mechanical engineering activities on a major construction project, ensuring installations are properly coordinated, technically compliant and delivered to the required quality and safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating mechanical design information, drawings and technical documentation
  • Reviewing project specifications, drawings and technical submittals
  • Producing and reviewing coordinated mechanical installation drawings
  • Supporting design coordination across mechanical, electrical, sprinkler, structural and architectural disciplines
  • Attending project handovers and technical coordination meetings
  • Identifying value engineering and cost‑saving opportunities
  • Managing RFIs and resolving technical queries with the design teamSupporting the preparation of progress reports and project documentation
  • Reviewing and assessing technical submittals
  • Coordinating equipment and material requisitions and deliveries
  • Working closely with subcontractors and monitoring their technical performance
  • Carrying out quality inspections, snagging and mechanical system walkdowns
  • Reviewing P&IDs and layout drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Supporting the preparation and tracking of test packs through to completion
  • Preparing method statements and risk assessments
  • Supporting project commercial activities, including variations and material take-offs
  • Maintaining accurate project records and document control
  • Providing technical support and mentoring to junior engineers
About You

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer with:

  • A degree or 3rd-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent senior trade qualification
  • 5+ years' project engineering experience within a mechanical contracting environment
  • Proven experience delivering small to medium‑size mechanical projects
  • Experience within data centres, pharmaceutical, commercial, industrial or other complex construction environments
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services and installation
  • Experience with technical submittals, design reviews and coordinated drawings
  • The ability to carry out mechanical system walkdowns and identify technical/compliance issues
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
  • Knowledge of EHS, quality and construction management processes
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced project environment
  • A proactive and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Experience working with and coordinating subcontractors
  • The ability to lead, influence and support others
