Job summary

NACOS Marine is seeking a Service Engineer (m/f/d) Automation in Sæby/Frederikshavn to program, commission and support Integrated Alarm & Control Systems and SCADA on vessels, including cruise ships and large commercial ships. Role blends hands-on work with customer contact, plus international travel and onboard assignments.

You'll work with shipowners, shipyards, and internal engineering teams on newbuilds, refits, upgrades and warranty activities, ensuring safe, efficient operations and timely

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with industrial automation, SCADA systems and PLC programming.
• Structured troubleshooting across software, electronics and networks.
• Familiarity with marine/industrial protocols: Modbus, NMEA, OPC, Profibus.
• Willingness to travel internationally and work onboard vessels.

Responsibilities

• Carry out commissioning, service, refits, and upgrades of marine automation and SCADA systems.
• Participate in FAT, HAT, and Sea Trials, including onboard commissioning activities.
• Identify and resolve software and hardware issues during service assignments.
• Develop and adapt PLC/SCADA software, both in-house and onboard vessels.
• Support warranty cases for newbuild and retrofit projects, remotely and onsite.
• Prepare and keep technical documentation up to date, such as drawings and interface docs.
• Assist with class compliance activities and system handover to shipowners and yards.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with customers and colleagues.
