Job summary

Sensori is seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to own the mechanical systems package from planning through handover, coordinating the mechanical team, subcontractors, suppliers and client stakeholders.

You will lead the day-to-day site operations, manage schedule, cost and quality, drive safety and QA, and deliver a clean close-out with complete records while aligning with project milestones.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification and/or third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years experience managing mechanical installation packages with delivery on time and to budget.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, plant and mechanical installation with electrical interfaces.
  • Experience of design-and-build delivery, industrial relations and multi-contractor environments.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent IT literacy including project scheduling and reporting tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive large-scale projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage every aspect of the mechanical systems package, including scope, programme, cost, quality and close-out.
  • Co-manage site safety with the Mechanical Project Manager and Sensori Safety Advisor; set up, maintain and close out the project safety file and drive a strong QHSE culture within the team.
  • Coordinate site QA with the QA Manager; establish, manage and close out the QA file, including test packs, pressure-test records and inspection evidence.
  • Maintain and drive the package programme in coordination with the Project Manager, consulting engineers and client milestones, sequencing mechanical works with electrical, civil and commissioning activity.
  • Control all costs associated with the package, including Sensori mechanical labour, subcontractors, material deliveries and goods receipting, plant and equipment, variations and valuations; issue weekly cost reports.
  • Oversee day-to-day site activity, ensuring efficient resource allocation, productivity and adherence to Sensori policies and procedures.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, progress against program and manpower levels; hold weekly coordination meetings.
  • Operate the in-progress snagging system; ensure supervisors return weekly punch lists and that snags are distributed to subcontractors.
  • Coordinate procurement of long-lead mechanical plant and equipment; schedule and track deliveries to align with the program.
  • Issue direct labour and subcontractor hours to the time administrator for central tracking.
  • Produce internal weekly progress reports rolled up from supervisor reports (percent complete by WBS, concerns and risks) and external reports to the Project Manager covering delays, design shortages and third-party hold-ups.
  • Maintain a weekly photographic diary and attend site meetings, project reviews, engineering reviews, planning sessions and handover meetings.
  • Close out all package items, including final account, O&M manuals, punch list, safety and QA files, and material and plant relocations.

Job description

The Mechanical Package Manager owns the mechanical systems package from planning through handover, coordinating Sensori's mechanical team, subcontractors, suppliers and client stakeholders. The role is accountable for schedule, cost, quality and safety across HVAC, piping, plant and associated mechanical scope, runs day-to-day site operations for mechanical works and delivers a clean close-out with complete safety, QA and commercial records. It suits an experienced mechanical delivery professional who combines site leadership with commercial discipline.

Selection criteria / person specification
  • Trade qualification and/or third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.
  • Five to ten years' experience managing mechanical installation packages, with a proven record of coordinating and delivering large installations on time and to budget.
  • Strong technical understanding of HVAC, piping, plant and mechanical installation practice, with a working knowledge of electrical interfaces.
  • Experience of design-and-build delivery, industrial relations and multi-contractor environments.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
