Job summary

Factbird is seeking a Lead Architect to define the company-wide technical vision. You’ll shape architecture, tooling, and multi-year technology bets, with authority earned through judgment and track record.

You’ll work with Rust, React, Node.js, and AWS, review RFCs, set standards, and partner with our Director of Engineering. This senior role has no direct reports and demands balancing technical excellence with business context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience including senior architectural responsibilities
• Track record owning multi-year technology strategy or platform architecture decisions
• Led major RFCs or architecture proposals across teams
• Comfortable making build-vs-buy and technology-adoption calls considering cost and risk
• Experience mentoring senior engineers toward architect-level thinking
• Practical, current experience with AI-assisted development

Responsibilities

• Own Factbird's multi-year technology strategy and high-stakes architectural decisions
• Author and drive RFCs from proposal to decision, review high-risk changes
• Set standards for languages, frameworks, and platform architecture
• Define observability, reliability, and security postures for the platform
• Shape engineering-wide quality philosophy and hiring bar
• Collaborate with Tech Leads, Director of Engineering, and product leads
