Job summary

The LEGO Group in Billund, Denmark seeks an early-career mechanical product design engineer with strong CAD skills to turn creative ideas into manufacturable LEGO bricks from concept to production-ready design. You will develop technical designs, deliver CAD models and drawings, apply DFM and safety standards, and conduct prototype testing to verify materials and function.

We offer a hybrid work policy with about 3 days per week in the office, plus Family Care Leave, life and disability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong CAD systems and 3D design experience.
  • Knowledge of variation and tolerance design and basic statistics.
  • Proven track record in mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to work focused and collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

Do you have a passion for mechanical design, product development, and turning creative ideas into manufacturable products? We're looking for an early-career mechanical product design engineer with strong CAD skills who can bring your mechanical engineering expertise, 3D CAD skills and innovative mindset into play as you help develop the next generation of LEGO® elements, from concept to production-ready design. We encourage you to attach a portfolio, project examples, design work, patents, publications, or other relevant documentation that showcases your engineering capabilities and contributions to product design and development projects. No relocation assistance is offered for this position

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop technical designs for new LEGO® bricks
  • Deliver CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications for new LEGO® bricks
  • Interpret and apply current quality standards related to functionality, building systems, and product safety
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles are incorporated into element designs
  • Conduct prototype testing and verify material selection, element functionality, and product safety

  • Bring experience with plastic materials, mechanics, or moulding technology, preferably gained over 2-5 years

Requirements
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience with CAD systems and 3D design
  • Apply variation and tolerance design principles, as well as basic statistical methods
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of excellence in mechanical engineering
  • Work in a focused and results-oriented manner
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical and structural design principles
  • Build strong relationships across geographical, cultural, and professional boundaries through a global mindset
