Job summary

Shine, the European fintech backed by Cegid, seeks a VP Engineering, Banking to build and lead the engineering organisation behind Shine's banking technology. Reporting to the Senior VP of Engineering, you will partner with Product, Compliance, Risk and Security to balance regulatory obligations with product innovation while scaling across multiple markets.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multi-team engineering org via engineering managers in a licensed financial institution (bank, neobank, payments, or banking-as-a-service).
• Owned systems where money moves with regulatory scrutiny (AML, KYC, PSD2, audits).
• Proven track record coaching teams and improving reliability and delivery.
• Credibility with executives and partnership with Product, Security, Compliance and Risk.
• Experience in cloud-native environments with on-call production services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the banking engineering organisation through engineering managers and build the bench beneath them.
• Design the organisation, operating model and resource plan as the business grows and hire what is needed.
• Set a culture of ownership and accountability where teams are trusted to decide and be held to outcomes.
• Make delivery predictable and transparent: planning, clearer communication, documentation.
• Strengthen engineering operations across incident management, monitoring, observability and reliability.
• Keep technical debt and operational risk as deliberate choices rather than surprises.
• Partner with Compliance, Risk and Security so regulatory obligations are designed into how we build.
• Balance speed against governance and defend lines to product leaders and regulators.
• Become the technology partner for the banking business’s major initiatives.
• Contribute to Shine's engineering strategy and roadmap.
• Advise senior leadership on engineering priorities and investments.
• Partner with Product leadership so engineering lands on customer and business outcomes.
