Job summary

Green SM seeks a Head of Accounting to oversee accounting operations across Denmark and Sweden, ensuring compliant financial reporting and strong internal controls. You will lead a bilingual team, drive process improvements, and coordinate with Finance, Tax, Operations, and the Group Headquarters in a multinational setting.

The role requires 8+ years in accounting, IFRS/local GAAP knowledge, and ERP experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of accounting experience with team management.
• Knowledge of IFRS or local GAAP and ability to prepare statutory reports.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
• Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and statutory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements in Denmark and Sweden.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain effective internal controls.
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team across both markets.
• Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Operations, Group Headquarters, and external advisors.
• Standardize accounting procedures and improve processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.

Position Overview

The Head of Accounting is responsible for managing and overseeing accounting operations across Denmark and Sweden, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with local accounting standards and regulations, and timely financial reporting to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and statutory reporting.
• Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements in Denmark and Sweden.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain effective internal controls.
• Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team across both markets.
• Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Operations, Group Headquarters, and external advisors.
• Standardize accounting procedures and improve processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant accounting experience, including team management experience.
• Strong knowledge of local accounting standards (IFRS or local GAAP as applicable).
• Experience in preparing financial statements and statutory reports.
• Familiarity with accounting systems and ERP software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility.
