Templafy seeks a hands-on Forward Deployed Engineer to join the Technical Operations team. You will own customer journeys from discovery to deployment, designing and deploying tailored solutions that embed Templafy into client environments.

You’ll work with strategic customers on complex workflows, partner with solutions consulting, and help shape product direction with real-world feedback.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on, resourceful Forward Deployed Engineer to join our Technical Operations team.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Templafy, you will play a critical role in supporting our growth by working directly with strategic customers to design, build, and deploy tailored solutions that bring Templafy’s platform into their real‑world environments.

You will take deep technical ownership of the customer journey—from initial discovery and solution design through implementation and launch. You’ll work closely with customers to understand their most complex document workflows and build the environments, integrations, and AI‑powered solutions needed to solve them.

This is a highly collaborative and customer‑facing role that sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and commercial strategy.

What You’ll Do

Embedded Customer Engineering
Work on-site or virtually alongside strategic customers to build, configure, and integrate Templafy solutions directly into their document workflows.

Custom Solution Development
Design and build tailored customer environments using their content, business rules, integrations, knowledge, and data to address complex document use cases and deliver solutions that meet their specific needs.

Technical Discovery & Architecture Mapping
Partner with Solutions Consulting and Professional Services to understand complex customer requirements and translate them into concrete technical architectures and implementation plans.

Rapid Prototyping
Build proof‑of‑concept integrations, document agents, and workflow automations to quickly validate solution fit before moving into full implementation.

Product Collaboration
Work closely with Product Managers to share insights and feedback from real‑world customer use cases, helping shape the product and ensure our document agents continue to meet evolving customer needs.

Deployment & Change Management
Support customer rollout, training, and adoption of custom‑built solutions, ensuring a smooth transition to the customer’s internal teams and Templafy’s Customer Success organization.

Accelerate Packaging & Repeatability
Use insights gained from customer implementations to partner with our Pricing and Packaging team to identify common use cases and help develop repeatable solutions across industries and business functions.

What We’re Looking For

• Academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, another technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience as a Solutions Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or similar technical customer‑facing role, ideally within enterprise SaaS or applied AI.
• Strong commercial and technical discovery skills, with the ability to translate business needs and technical requirements into working solutions.
• Ability to identify gaps during discovery and proactively engage the appropriate customer stakeholders to gather the information needed to move forward.
• Experience working with REST APIs, enterprise integrations, authentication/SSO, and automation frameworks.
• Strong technical curiosity and interest in AI. Experience integrating with or building on top of LLM providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic is a strong plus.
• Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments and turning loosely defined customer problems into working software.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, recommendations, and trade‑offs to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of enterprise document governance and workflows, with the confidence to engage directly with senior and C‑level IT stakeholders.
• Strong technical and user‑facing knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint, and their file structures is a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel and spend time on‑site with customers as needed.
• A strong bias toward action, ownership, and problem‑solving in a fast‑moving and innovative environment.

Success in this role will include:

• Identifying complex business document scenarios and developing solutions that are successfully implemented in customers’ production environments.
• Enabling customers to successfully launch custom document agents and solutions.
• Supporting strong win rates for Custom Document Agent opportunities.
• Driving repeat end‑user adoption of Custom Document Agents.
• Turning customer‑specific learnings into insights that can improve Templafy’s product and create repeatable solutions for future customers.
