Job description

Quote

In this role, you’ll have direct influence on portfolio performance, pricing, and commercial strategy while working at the intersection of asset management, trading, origination, and technology to create value from flexible assets in Germany.

Here’s what the job entails

You will be responsible for building and growing our German BESS flexibility portfolio, driving the risk/reward thinking while keeping it transparent and collaborative.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

  • owning the end-to-end performance of the German flexibility portfolio, including P&L, risk management, pricing, profitability, and long-term value creation

  • driving portfolio growth by developing commercial offerings, supporting contract negotiations, and ensuring robust valuation and pricing methodologies

  • monitoring market design, regulation, and competitive developments, translating changes into actionable portfolio strategies, commercial initiatives, and operational improvements

  • acting as the portfolio lead across the value chain, aligning originators, technology teams, analysts, and operations to ensure optimal portfolio performance and execution

  • continuously improving portfolio management capabilities by challenging existing approaches, developing tools and processes, and sharing expertise that raises the performance of both colleagues and stakeholders

Meet your team

You will join our Flexible Asset Management team, who is responsible for maximising the value of Danske Commodities' flexibility portfolio across European energy markets. We manage and develop commercial strategies, pricing, and performance of flexible assets such as battery energy storage systems and other flexibility resources. Working closely with Origination, Technology, and Asset Operations, we translate market opportunities into profitable and scalable portfolio solutions.

We are a team of eight energy market experts responsible for maximising the value of our flexibility portfolio through portfolio optimisation, pricing, and commercial development. We combine commercial ambition with high levels of trust, ownership, and accountability while we challenge ideas openly and value constructive debate over hierarchy.

But enough about us… over to you!

As you will be working with portfolio strategy, commercial development, and stakeholders across the value chain, we imagine that you are motivated by turning market opportunities into scalable business results. You thrive when building alignment across functions and seniority levels goes hand in hand with balancing commercial priorities and long-term value creation.

Furthermore, we imagine that you:

  • have a deep understanding of German power markets, flexibility assets, ancillary services, and market design

  • have strong commercial judgement with proven ability to assess risk, value drivers, and portfolio performance

  • have experience managing asset portfolios with direct ownership of financial performance and decision-making

  • have advanced pricing, valuation, and business case development capabilities

  • can translate market insights into commercial strategy and tangible portfolio actions

  • possess solid analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions and challenge assumptions

  • understand trading, optimisation, and physical asset operations across the energy value chain
