Job summary

Maersk is seeking a highly motivated Crew Operator to join our Crewing team and help ensure vessels are manned with top-tier maritime professionals.

This role involves long term relief rotation, advanced planning of officers and ratings, and coordinating with Fleet Groups on technical and management needs. You will also manage crew changes, document compliance, and data quality across planning systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience in crewing or maritime operations.
  • Background in Marine HR or a comparable field.
  • Strong English communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure vessels and ranks are adequately manned per flag requirements and company policies.
  • Provide long term relief rotation and advance planning of officers and ratings.
  • Coordinate with Fleet Groups for technical and management requirements of vessels.
  • Coordinate and handle crew changes effectively.
  • Evaluate crew performance and identify promotable or training-needed personnel.
  • Ensure compliance of crew documents/certificates with relevant teams.
  • Update records for crew change activities in the planning system.
  • Conduct work in a manner that protects seafarers' health and safety.
  • Promote close interaction between sea and shore colleagues and vessel visits.
  • Participate in Crew Operations activities and department projects.
  • Maintain data quality in our systems.

About the Role:
  • Ensure that vessels and ranks under your responsibility are adequately manned as per vessel flag requirements and company policies and guidelines.
  • Provide long term relief rotation and advance planning of officers and ratings.
  • Ensure coordination/dialogue with Fleet Groups for Technical and Management requirement of the vessels.
  • Ensure coordination and effective handling of crew changes.
  • Evaluate the performance of crew and ensure that promotable crew and crew requiring additional training are highlighted to the relevant teams.
  • Ensure compliance and validity of crew documents / certificates through the relevant teams.
  • Update the records for the crew change activities in the personnel/planning system.
  • Ensure to conduct work activities in a manner that protects the health and safety of the seafarers.
  • Promote effective, timely and close interaction between colleagues at sea & shore through continuous dialogue and vessel visits.
  • Participate, when requested, in all Crew Operations activities and company/department projects.
  • Ensure that data quality in our systems are updated and valid at all times.
What We’re Looking For:

We're seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment and brings a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to their work. The ideal candidate brings experience in crewing or maritime operations, with a demonstrated history of success in Crewing, Marine HR, or a comparable field.

  • Communicate effectively with perfect command of English
  • Have a strong natural drive for results, as well as excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Possess a proactive and positive attitude, enthusiasm, and ability to cooperate in an open and constructive manner.
  • Can plan and execute in a structured manner, which is critical to succeed in the position.
  • Can interact effectively in an international setting with diverse nationalities.Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Are a strong team player who is self-motivated, adaptable to change and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • A background in seafaring would be advantageous
