Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced BMS Engineer to deliver and commission complex datacenter projects, with hands-on design review, FATs, and handover. You will coordinate with M&E teams and end users, ensuring safety and quality while meeting customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level qualification in electrical, electronic, or automation engineering or a relevant electrical/electronic apprenticeship with >5 years BMS or control system commissioning experience.
• Strong HVAC and BMS commissioning experience, incl. AHUs, terminal units, actuators, and controllers.
• Experience with fault finding in electrical starters and control circuits.
• Practical experience commissioning variable speed drives (VSDs).
• Familiarity with BMS industry-standard protocols.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work onsite at construction projects in the Copenhagen area.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications and designs; identify commissioning or software-related risks with the Project Manager.
• Validate design assumptions and contribute to scope of work and cost estimates with Operations.
• Support proposal preparation and customer communication documentation.
• Execute software development and commissioning per project requirements; manage deviations as needed.
• Coordinate with M&E contractors, subcontractors, and end users.
• Provide weekly status reports and escalate delays or risks as needed.
• Perform FAT, site testing and commissioning; ensure documentation is complete and signed.
• Compile and deliver system handover documentation for O&M manuals.
• Verify installation quality; review subcontractor electrical test docs prior to commissioning.
• Maintain accurate records of commissioning progress and system performance.
• Develop, test, load, and commission BMS software and network controllers.
• Coordinate and create relevant drawings, equipment schedules, and submittals.
• Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot cross-discipline issues.

Location: Copenhagen (site-based)

We are looking for an experienced BMS Engineer to deliver and commission complex datacenter construction projects involving integrated Building Management Systems (BMS). This role is critical to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while meeting both customer and commercial expectations.

What will you do:

As a BMS Engineer, you will play a key role throughout the project lifecycle, from design review to commissioning and handover:

• Review project specifications and designs; identify commissioning or software-related risks together with the Project Manager
• Validate design assumptions and contribute to detailed scope of work and cost estimates in collaboration with Operations
• Support proposal preparation and customer communication documentation
• Execute software development and commissioning according to project requirements, and manage deviations where required
• Coordinate closely with M&E contractors, subcontractors, and end users
• Provide clear progress reporting, including weekly status reports and escalation of delays or risks
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), site testing, and commissioning, ensuring all documentation is complete and signed
• Compile and deliver system handover documentation for O&M manuals
• Verify installation quality, including review and approval of subcontractor electrical test documentation prior to commissioning
• Maintain accurate records of commissioning progress and system performance
• Develop, test, load, and commission BMS software and network-level controllers
• Coordinate and create relevant drawings, equipment schedules, and submittals
• Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot issues across disciplines
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Electricity at Work Regulations, Health & Safety legislation, and site‑specific H&S requirements
• Promote a positive, solution-oriented mindset that enhances customer satisfaction while supporting contractual objectives

What we look for:

• Bachelor-level qualification in electrical, electronic, or automation engineering or a relevant electrical/electronic apprenticeship combined with >5 years of BMS or control system commissioning experience
• Strong HVAC and BMS commissioning experience, including AHUs, terminal units, actuators, and controllers
• Experience with fault finding in electrical starters and control circuits
• Practical experience commissioning variable speed drives (VSDs)
• Familiarity with BMS industry-standard protocols
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Valid industry-standard H&S certification (e.g. Safe Pass or equivalent)
• Willingness to work onsite at construction projects in the Copenhagen area

Preferred:

• Datacenter BMS commissioning experience
• Experience with one or more of the following platforms:
  JCI Metasys, EasyIO, Tridium Niagara, Trend, Siemens, Schneider
• Experience managing or contributing to large-scale or regulated projects (e.g. datacenter, healthcare, government)
• Ability to create/update graphics and set up workstations and networks (training can be provided)
• Danish driving license
• Fluency in both Danish and English
