Job summary

WPP in Copenhagen seeks an experienced Backend Engineer to design, implement and operate backend services and API integrations within Open Intelligence. You will help build orchestration components and partner integrations to deliver reliable, scalable production systems.

Collaborating with Product and Lead Engineers, you’ll write tests, improve observability and ownership of incidents. Proficiency in Python or similar, REST APIs, cloud platforms and containerized deployments will help you

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend, platform or API roles.
Experience building and operating production backend services and REST/HTTP APIs.
Strong proficiency in Python, Go, Java or Kotlin (Python preferred).
Experience with API integrations including authentication, pagination, error handling and debugging.
Experience with Git, unit/integration/contract testing and CI/CD.
Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure) and containerized deployments; Docker/Kubernetes beneficial.

Responsibilities

Discuss, design and implement technical solutions for backend services and API integrations, reviewing code.
Build and maintain orchestration and gateway components connecting activation systems.
Collaborate with Product and Lead Engineers to deliver reliable production services.
Strengthen integrations through authentication, retries, idempotency, rate limiting and clear error handling.
Write and maintain unit, integration and contract tests; contribute to CI/CD practices.
