Job summary

University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a fully-funded Assistant Professor position in nanoscale morphology of organic thin films, starting Nov 1, 2026, for a 3-year period at the SDU CAPE center in Sønderborg.

The successful candidate will conduct research bridging from organic molecules to thin films and devices, supervise students, teach courses, and contribute to acquiring external funding while collaborating across international partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry, materials science, physics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Proven publications in synthesis of organic molecules and thin films, morphology of organic thin films, structure-property relationships, organic solar cells or related organic technologies.
• Ability to attract external research funding.
• Excellent collaboration and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with other team members at SDU CAPE.
• Take responsibility for and lead new research directions in nanoscale morphology of organic thin films.
• Contribute to development of new organic thin films for sustainable energy devices.
• Be responsible for teaching courses at SDU and supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students.
• Contribute to obtaining funding for research and innovation projects.
• Contribute to establishing and maintaining international collaborations.
