Jobbeschreibung

MITS Industries is establishing an R&D and design site in Copenhagen focused on advanced RF systems, signal intelligence, aerospace technologies, and mission-critical product development.

The site will build core engineering capabilities in RF and microwave hardware, antenna systems, RF testing and characterization, rugged mechanical integration, and the industrialization of complex radio-electronic systems.

The Copenhagen team will work closely with strategic partners and engineering teams across Europe, playing a leading role in the development, validation, and industrialization of advanced technologies for defense, aerospace, and other demanding applications.

One of the initial focus areas will be the development of an advanced aerospace signal intelligence product platform. The work will cover RF and system architecture, antenna system design, signal acquisition, embedded control, laboratory validation, mechanical integration, integration with the satellite platform, and preparation for production and field deployment.

The ambition is to build a strong technical design site capable of taking complex RF products, modules, and platforms from architecture and detailed design through prototyping, testing, validation, industrialization, and deployment.

About the role

MITS Industries is looking for a Senior Antenna Systems Engineer to join the core Copenhagen R&D team and help build the site’s antenna systems design capability.

You will design and develop antenna systems and subsystems for advanced aerospace and signal-intelligence applications. The work covers antenna-system architecture, performance analysis and design trade-offs, antenna elements and arrays, feed and matching networks, full-wave electromagnetic simulation, platform integration, prototyping, measurement, and performance validation. You will take antenna concepts through detailed design and implementation, including integration with RF hardware, mechanical structures, radomes, and satellite platforms.

You will work closely with system architects, RF and microwave hardware engineers, signal-processing engineers, RF test and characterization engineers, mechanical design engineers, and partner engineering teams. The role requires deep antenna and electromagnetic design expertise, technical ownership, and hands-on implementation experience, taking designs from concept through prototyping and validation to documented, manufacturable, and platform-integrated antenna systems.

Key responsibilities
  • Translate system and mission requirements into antenna-system architectures, specifications, performance budgets, and design trade-offs. Design antenna elements, arrays, feed and distribution networks, and matching structures.
  • Perform antenna-system analysis covering bandwidth, antenna gain, efficiency, polarization, radiation-pattern characteristics, beamwidth, sidelobe levels, inter element coupling, isolation between antenna channels, phase stability, and platform-integrated antenna performance.
  • Perform full-wave electromagnetic simulations and optimization of antennas, arrays, feed structures, radomes, enclosures, supports, and surrounding platform structures.
  • Own antenna placement and integration, including antenna-to-platform interaction, RF interfaces, connectors and cabling, grounding, mechanical constraints, and electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Define electromagnetic and functional requirements for radomes, antenna supports, enclosures, and fixed or deployable antenna assemblies in collaboration with mechanical design engineers.
  • Develop antenna prototypes and engineering models, and lead antenna tuning, troubleshooting, and design verification in collaboration with RF test and characterization engineers.
  • Define antenna measurement and validation plans covering input matching and S parameters, radiation patterns, antenna gain, efficiency, polarization, and isolation between antenna channels.
  • Analyze measured results, correlate them with electromagnetic simulations, and refine models and designs based on measurement data.
  • Support antenna-system calibration and performance assessment for coherent, multichannel, or direction-finding applications.
  • Contribute to environmental qualification, reliability assessment, tolerance analysis, manufacturability, supplier selection, and production release.
  • Prepare antenna specifications, simulation reports, design documentation, interface definitions, design-review materials, test inputs, and production handover documentation.
  • Collaborate with system, RF and microwave hardware, signal-processing, test, mechanical, manufacturing, and partner engineering teams.
Required qualifications and experience
  • Master’s degree or PhD in electrical or electronic engineering, antenna engineering, electromagnetics, RF engineering, applied physics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in antenna-system design and development.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing antenna elements, arrays, feed networks, matching structures, and antenna systems from initial architecture and full-wave simulation through detailed design, prototyping, integration, and validation.
  • Strong understanding of antenna theory and applied electromagnetics, including bandwidth, input matching, antenna gain, efficiency, polarization, radiation-pattern characteristics, beamwidth, sidelobe levels, inter-element coupling, isolation between antenna channels, and phase stability.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate system requirements, coverage requirements, and platform constraints into antenna architectures, performance budgets, and design trade-offs. Proficiency with one or more full-wave electromagnetic simulation tools, such as Ansys HFSS, CST Studio Suite, or equivalent.
  • Experience modelling platform-integrated antenna systems, including radomes, supports, enclosures, cabling, grounding, and surrounding platform structures.
  • Hands-on experience developing, tuning, troubleshooting, and validating physical antenna prototypes and engineering models.
  • Practical experience with antenna measurement techniques, including input matching and multiport S-parameters, radiation-pattern measurements, antenna gain, efficiency, polarization, and isolation between antenna channels.
  • Experience using vector network analyzers and antenna measurement facilities, with practical exposure to near-field, compact-range, or direct far-field antenna measurements.
  • Demonstrated ability to correlate measured antenna performance with electromagnetic simulations and refine models and designs based on measurement results.
  • Experience with engineering analysis and data-processing tools such as MATLAB, Python, or equivalent. Understanding of antenna manufacturing methods, mechanical and dimensional tolerances, environmental requirements and qualification, and production release.
Nice to have
  • Experience with signal-intelligence, direction-finding, spectrum-monitoring, or radio-surveillance antenna systems.
  • Experience designing wideband or multiband antennas.
  • Experience with phased arrays, passive or active beamforming, and antenna-array calibration.
  • Experience with coherent or multichannel antenna systems, including phase matching, isolation between antenna channels, and mutual-coupling effects.
  • Experience with dual-polarized, circularly polarized, or polarization-diverse antenna systems.
  • Experience integrating antennas into satellite, airborne, or other space-constrained platforms.
  • Experience with radomes, conformal antennas, deployable antenna systems, or mechanically constrained antenna installations.
  • Experience developing aerospace, mission-critical, or ruggedized antenna systems.
  • Experience with antenna co-site analysis, electromagnetic interference, and platform-level coupling between antennas and electronic systems.
Success in the first 6 months
  • Take technical ownership of one or more antenna systems or subsystem areas.
  • Establish the initial antenna architecture, electromagnetic design approach, and platform-integration plan for the assigned scope.
  • Deliver reviewed electromagnetic models, design data, interface definitions, and supporting design documentation.
  • Develop and validate initial antenna prototypes or engineering models, with clear correlation between simulated and measured performance.
  • Identify key antenna-performance, mechanical-integration, and platform interaction risks and define practical mitigation actions.
  • Establish effective technical interfaces with system, RF and microwave hardware, signal-processing, test, mechanical, manufacturing, and partner engineering teams.
