Job summary

Shine is hiring an AI Backend Engineer to automate accounting production for Advisors. You will own and improve production AI agents that solve real accounting problems, ranging from prompt design to backend orchestration and observability.

You will collaborate with Product Managers and CPAs, extend our multi-country logic, and help shape our AI platform across Europe. Location options include Berlin, Copenhagen or Amsterdam with hybrid work up to two days remote.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong backend engineering with TypeScript / Node.js (NestJS a strong plus).
• Experience building or operating AI agent workflows in production.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and considering schemas, latency, costs, and failure modes.
• Commitment to testing, observability, and evaluation frameworks.
• Professional English communication is required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain AI agents for document parsing, VAT resolution, account selection, and other accounting workflows with structured outputs.
• Design and operate production-grade AI workflows with orchestration, tool calling, retries, and failure handling.
• Integrate LLM APIs with typed schemas while optimizing quality, latency, and cost.
• Write integration tests and evaluation suites to measure agent performance.
• Instrument the production pipeline with traces, structured logs, and monitoring.
• Extend multi-country accounting logic without duplicating rules.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and CPAs to refine edge cases and improve agent quality.
• Help shape the architecture as we expand across Europe.
