Job summary

Shine is expanding its Advisor Production team and seeks an AI Backend Engineer to automate accounting production for Advisors across Europe. You will own production AI agents, from prompt engineering to backend orchestration and observability, enabling robust, scalable financial automation for accounting professionals.

You will work with TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, and OpenAI / Anthropic style APIs in a multi-country setup (Denmark, Germany, Netherlands).

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Strong backend engineer with TypeScript/Node.js (NestJS a plus).
• Experience with AI agent workflows in production—orchestration, tool calling, schemas.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs and managing latency, costs, and failures.
• Commitment to testing, observability, and evaluation frameworks.
• Ability to write strongly typed code with good error handling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain AI agents for document parsing, VAT resolution, and account workflows.
• Design and operate production-grade AI workflows with orchestration, tool calls, retries, and failures.
• Integrate LLM APIs with typed schemas, optimize for quality and latency.
• Write tests and evaluation suites to measure agent performance and improve accuracy.
• Instrument pipeline with traces and structured logs for quick diagnostics.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and CPAs to refine rules and automation.
