Job description

Advanced Systems Engineer, Maritime Projects

If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, influencing multidisciplinary teams, and continuously improving the way engineering is performed - this could be the right opportunity for you.

We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes. We continue to evolve our advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry to deliver real-world solutions that matter to the security of people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for Systems Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

Your role as part of the team

As a Systems Engineer within Maritime Projects, you will play a key role in defining technical solutions for some of our advanced defense systems. You will take ownership of technical decisions within assigned system areas while ensuring alignment with the overall system architecture. Throughout the product lifecycle, from early concept and proposal work to development, integration, verification, and customer delivery, you will drive systems engineering activities and help shape the best overall solutions.

In our team, we take pride in developing people and technology. You will become part of a team of 14 System Engineers focused on Maritime projects. As one of the first points of contact for new projects entering the Integrated Product Development department, the team supports project clarification and Sales activities. We work in an informal and collaborative environment where teamwork, knowledge sharing, and open dialogue are key. We care about the work we do and the people behind it.

Technical skills matter, but your mindset matters even more. If you combine strong technical capabilities with curiosity and a modern systems engineering mindset, you could be a great addition to our team. You thrive when collaborating across disciplines, can simplify complexity and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and know when to focus on details while maintaining a system-level perspective. Most importantly, you are motivated by finding the best solution for the complete system rather than a single discipline.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

In this role, you will contribute to a range of tasks across your area of responsibility. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Translating customer needs into clear, robust, and achievable technical solutions and identifying technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies early
  • Collaborating across engineering disciplines and stakeholders to ensure integrated system designs
  • Acting as technical owner for one or more system areas, ensuring technical consistency across software, hardware and operational requirements
  • Defining/supporting system architecture, requirements engineering, trade studies, and technical decision-making
  • Contributing to proposal work, engineering estimates, and technical planning
  • Helping improve engineering processes, methods, and collaboration across the organization.
Bring your expertise into play

To thrive in this role, we imagine that you bring some of the following qualifications:

  • You likely hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, or another relevant technical discipline
  • You have a solid background in systems engineering and enjoy working with technically complex products
  • Experience within maritime, aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical industries is an advantage, but more important is your ability to understand complex systems and collaborate across disciplines
  • Experience with systems engineering methodologies, requirements engineering, system architecture, MBSE/INCOSE, interface technologies, distributed software systems, networking, sensor integration, and safety-critical systems is considered a significant advantage
  • Experience with technical leadership, proposal development, defense standards, Linux, and relevant industry standards such as MIL-STDs is an advantage.

Most importantly, we believe diverse experiences add value to our team and organization. Therefore, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all the above requirements.

As we are an international organization, it is important that you are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level.
