Job description

Would you like to help develop mission-critical software solutions that contribute to keeping people safe? As an Advanced Software Engineer in our team, you will work with complex naval defense systems, take ownership of key software components, and grow your expertise alongside a highly skilled and supportive team. Come and join us!

We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth and demanding changes. We continue to evolve our advanced technologies and mission critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry to deliver real-world solutions that matter to the security of people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking for Advanced Software Engineer to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.

Your role as part of the team

As our new Advanced Software Engineer, you will play an important role in developing and enhancing advanced Multi Domain Systems for naval platforms. Working across the full development lifecycle, you will contribute to architecture, implementation, testing, and verification while helping transform complex requirements into robust and maintainable software solutions.

You will become part of the Effectors & Engagement team in Søborg. The team consists of 12 colleagues, including software developers, software architects, software testers, systems engineers, and a Scrum Master. Together, the team works on the integration of weapon components and is characterized by a high level of trust, collaboration, and mutual support. We value knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and working together to solve complex challenges.

Technical skills matter, but your mindset matters even more. If you are curious, collaborative, and motivated by solving complex technical challenges while continuously developing your skills, you could be a great addition to our team. And if you enjoy a game of table football, you’ll fit right in—though we can’t promise to go easy on you.

How you will make a meaningful contribution

In this role, you will contribute to a range of tasks across your area of responsibility. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Turn customer requirements, system enablers, and technical challenges into well-structured, maintainable Java solutions
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, testing, verification, and validation in realistic staging environments
  • Develop, maintain, and improve automated tests, code quality, and software testability through continuous refactoring and modern engineering practices
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, architects, testers, systems engineers, and customers while contributing to effective Scrum team delivery
  • Act as a technical sparring partner and subject‑matter contributor when defining, planning, and scoping new solutions and features
  • Occasionally support testing and validation activities at customer sites, including on board naval vessels

Bring your expertise into play

To thrive in this role, we imagine that you bring some of the following qualifications:

  • Professional experience in software development, preferably using Java and object‑oriented design principles such as SOLID
  • Experience working across multiple stages of the software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and verification
  • Knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and designing scalable, testable software solutions
  • Experience with modern development practices such as CI/CD, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows
  • A collaborative mindset and curiosity to learn

Most importantly, we believe diverse experiences add value to our team and organization. Therefore, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all the above requirements.

As we are an international organization, it is important that you are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level.
