The EU Transportation Operations Management team is seeking Area Managers to work in our Amazon EU sites and manage operations in our yards.

The Yard Area Manager is responsible for managing yard operations in coordination with Dock, Receive, and Ship teams to ensure FIFO processing and mitigate CX impact risks. An ideal candidate has a background in transportation operations and excellent program management skills. They should be able to lead and mentor people, analyze data, and make sound recommendations in often ambiguous environments. A key responsibility is to standardize and improve processes while analyzing and eliminating root causes of defects within current systems. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence change at local and global levels are essential.

Key job responsibilities
  1. Partner with Site leadership to improve On-time Performance of trucks in and out of yards, Safety, and Customer Experience metrics.
  2. Streamline communication between multiple stakeholders to ensure the timely flow of trucks in the yard.
  3. Report yard performance to local site leadership, identify root causes of issues, and drive resolutions.
  4. Lead process improvement initiatives and implement Lean tools.
  5. Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs while measuring activities performed.
  6. Work some weekend shifts as needed (supporting Amazon’s fulfillment network 7 days/week).
Grundqualifikationen
  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience.
  • MS Office experience required, with intermediate Excel proficiency; basic SQL or Access skills.
  • Experience with performance metrics, data-driven decision making, and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Flexibility to work various hours, including overnight, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluent in English and preferably one additional language from French, Polish, German, Italian, or Spanish.
Bevorzugte Qualifikationen
  • Master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Mathematics, Science, or Engineering.
  • Experience in operations, supply chain, logistics, or e-commerce.
  • Experience with Six Sigma / Lean techniques.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and transportation concepts like forecasting, planning, and optimization.
