XMM/INTEGRAL Instrument Operations Engineer (m/f/d) - category: Service and Satellite Operations. Telespazio Germany is looking to complement their current Astronomical Missions Operations team with additional engineering support, delivering services to ESA/ESOC for the XMM & INTEGRAL missions.
Responsibilities
- To take over existing operations instrument activities, currently provided by ESAC and integrate them into the FCT at ESOC.
- Maintain the instrument procedures (develop, change & test)
- Maintain the instrument database (develop, change & test)
- Perform instrument anomaly recoveries
- Perform special operations support for instruments (eclipse operations, and development of automation activities to streamline the work of the Real-Time-Operations team)
- Support the calibration and mission planning teams at ESAC for operations
- Provision of On-call support
- Execute real-time payload operations
- Perform maintenance of instruments and observing modes
- Perform maintenance of the instrument onboard software
- Support the instrument health and performance monitoring
- Execute offline instrument monitoring/trend analysis
- Interfacing with instrument Principal Investigators for operational issues
To be a proactive key-team member to modernise existing operational activities while transferring them and introduce modern tools, to optimise the processes and operational efficiencies.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
- Spacecraft Payload and Platform subsystem knowledge
- Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations
- Fluency in English, both spoken and writing
- Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
- Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000
- Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation
- Familiarity with the ESOC environment
- Familiarity with Satellite Instrument Operations
- Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc.
