[J25056 - SGP2] XMM/INTEGRAL Instrument Operations Engineer (m/f/d)

XMM/INTEGRAL Instrument Operations Engineer (m/f/d) - category: Service and Satellite Operations. Telespazio Germany is looking to complement their current Astronomical Missions Operations team with additional engineering support, delivering services to ESA/ESOC for the XMM & INTEGRAL missions.

Responsibilities
  • To take over existing operations instrument activities, currently provided by ESAC and integrate them into the FCT at ESOC.
  • Maintain the instrument procedures (develop, change & test)
  • Maintain the instrument database (develop, change & test)
  • Perform instrument anomaly recoveries
  • Perform special operations support for instruments (eclipse operations, and development of automation activities to streamline the work of the Real-Time-Operations team)
  • Support the calibration and mission planning teams at ESAC for operations
  • Provision of On-call support
  • Execute real-time payload operations
  • Perform maintenance of instruments and observing modes
  • Perform maintenance of the instrument onboard software
  • Support the instrument health and performance monitoring
  • Execute offline instrument monitoring/trend analysis
  • Interfacing with instrument Principal Investigators for operational issues

To be a proactive key-team member to modernise existing operational activities while transferring them and introduce modern tools, to optimise the processes and operational efficiencies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • University degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
  • Spacecraft Payload and Platform subsystem knowledge
  • Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and writing
  • Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
  • Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000
  • Experience in the generation of Flight Procedures and validation
  • Familiarity with the ESOC environment
  • Familiarity with Satellite Instrument Operations
  • Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc.
