Job Summary:
The Wind Turbine Transportation, Maintenance & Hoisting Engineering Director is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, design, and execution of transportation, lifting, and maintenance operations for onshore and offshore wind turbines. This leadership role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement and maintenance of turbine components, working closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders to optimize logistics, reliability, and operational efficiency. Also, this role will be the technical interface with the customer for all transportation, maintenance and Hoisting engineering topics. This role will work in conjunction with other MYSE technical support team members and the technical departments of the parent company, to ensure a successful delivery of the solutions in the contracted windfarm projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation & Logistics Management:
- Develop and implement transportation strategies for wind turbine components (nacelles, blades, towers, etc.).
- Oversee logistics planning, route feasibility studies, and risk assessments for component transport.
- Ensure compliance with international and regional regulations for oversized and heavy-load transportation.
- Collaborate with logistics providers and transportation teams to optimize delivery schedules and costs.
- Develop required tools and solutions to facilitate both transportation and preservation of components during storage.
Hoisting & Installation Strategy:
- Define technical requirements and best practices for hoisting wind turbine components.
- Oversee crane selection, lifting plans, and safety procedures for turbine installation.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, load calculations, and environmental considerations.
- Collaborate with construction teams to streamline hoisting operations for onshore and offshore projects.
- Develop tools and solutions to facilitate operations
Maintenance & Reliability Engineering:
- Develop and oversee maintenance strategies to improve turbine availability and lifespan.
- Implement predictive maintenance programs using advanced monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Standardize procedures for corrective maintenance, major component replacements, and repairs.
- Work with field service teams to analyze failure modes and optimize maintenance efficiency.
Compliance, Safety & Risk Management:
- Ensure all transportation, hoisting, and maintenance operations comply with industry standards (IEC, DNV-GL, ISO, etc.).
- Implement safety protocols to minimize risks associated with lifting and handling large turbine components.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for high-risk operations.
Team Leadership & Project Management:
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers specializing in transportation, hoisting, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams, manufacturing, and site teams to improve operational processes.
- Oversee budget management, cost optimization, and resource allocation for department initiatives.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive research and adoption of innovative transportation, hoisting, and maintenance technologies.
- Evaluate automation, digital twin technology, and AI-driven predictive maintenance solutions.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency and drive improvements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- 10+ years of experience in wind energy, heavy transport, hoisting, or maintenance engineering related to onshore and/or offshore wind.
- 5+ years of leadership or senior management experience in logistics, maintenance, or construction.
- Expertise in large-scale equipment transportation, crane operations, and wind turbine maintenance.
- Proficiency in structural analysis tools and lifting simulation software.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for road transport, offshore installations, and safety protocols.
- Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with onshore /offshore wind industry standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with digital tools for predictive maintenance and logistics optimization.
- Certification in rigging, lifting operations, or logistics management.

- Good travel disposition (about 15% of time) in support of customer needs and overall business objectives Hybrid work environment with frequent travel to project sites, supplier facilities, and logistics hubs.
- Field presence required during critical transport, installation, and maintenance operations.
