Qualifikationen

Your tasks and responsibilities

Aerodynamics is responsible for the aerodynamic design and characterization for all military aircraft programs along their product life cycle. We use numerical simulations, wind tunnel testing and flight test to understand the aerodynamic behavior and to create and deliver aircraft representative aerodynamic data and models for stability & control, performance, loads and aeroelastics. As a Wind Tunnel Model Designer & Hardware Engineer, you contribute to our mission with the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Generation and analysis of model requirements and specifications

• Conception of wind tunnel models or model components as well as test and calibration assemblies in coordination with relevant stakeholders both inside and outside of aerodynamics

• Creation of documentation including stress reports and drawings

• Close coordination and collaboration with wind tunnel model suppliers in all phases of the model fabrication to ensure manufacturability of all designed parts and quality standards.

• Model acceptance at supplier premises

• Preparation of geometries for in-house 3D print

• Model fabrication using in-house 3D print

• Integration, instrumentation and calibration of wind tunnel models in the aero lab

• Contribution to test preparation

• Contribution to wind tunnel test execution in external wind tunnel facilities

Desired skills and qualifications

• Practical training in the crafts sector and Bachelors Degree or state-certified technical engineer

• At least 3 years of experience in design, including wind tunnel models

• Very good CATIA V5 skills

• Experience in conducting wind tunnel tests

• Thorough knowledge about manufacturing methods typically used for wind tunnel models, including 3D print

• Thorough knowledge about and experience in the application of measurement technology typically used in the wind tunnel test environment.

• Basic knowledge in strength calculations, electrical engineering

• Hands-on attitude in the AeroLab and during wind tunnel tests as well as experience in model handling

• Evident ability to learn and grow fast

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

• Willingness to travel (3x per year 1-4 weeks)

• Fluent in English and German
