Contract: full-time contract (40 hours per week), initially fixed-term for 2 years followed by the option of a subsequent employment contract with an infinite duration
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Providing individual and group support to meet the developmental, social, and emotional needs of our youngest learners (Nursery, Early Years and lower Primary School) by guiding, encouraging, and supporting them in an age-appropriate way
- Supporting children in developing foundational social-emotional skills such as self-regulation, emotional expression, empathy, cooperation, and early conflict-resolution strategies
- Delivering classroom-based activities for Early Years and lower Primary School classes that promote emotional literacy, positive relationships, and resilience
- Strengthening each child’s unique abilities and personality by fostering curiosity, confidence, and positive self-image
- Helping children to explore their interests and develop their emerging skills in alignment with the values and expectations of Leipzig International School
- Supporting children as they transition into new settings and routines, with tailored interventions designed to help them feel safe, understood, and capable
- Developing and managing Individualised Educational Plans for Early Years children / lower Primary School students
- Collaborating closely with the educational staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach
- Monitoring and documenting children’s social-emotional development to identify emerging needs or patterns
- Providing specific professional development opportunities for educational staff
- Planning and offering workshops or informal sessions for parents and caregivers on topics such as early childhood development, behaviour guidance, and emotional wellbeing
Your profile
- A degree in Counselling / Social Education / Social Pedagogy or a relevant equivalent
- Experience in counselling children would be desirable
- Experience of working in a diverse school community would be desirable
- Highly proficient English (and some level of German would be useful)
- An enthusiastic, caring and inspiring professional
