This position is part of our Safety Business Unit , which aims to enable safer, greener and more inclusive industries and transportation systems.

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we support Airbus Helicopters in developing helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Task Description

  • Manage the parameters of mass and balance for a given aircraft during its development phase
  • Optimization of mission configuration strategy to enable decision-making and guaranty weight and balance status at each development stage
  • Support offers department by delivering weight and balance diagrams, technical data and tenders, for usual and specific configuration
  • Closely work with predesign and performance department, designers during system development, the testing team, production and support and service
  • Contribute to aircraft architecture trade off and predict aircraft data before customer delivery
  • Improve weighing process and tools including predictive ones
  • Generate synthetic reports & project follow-up
  • Ensure communication and information to internal and external stakeholders

Required Qualifications

The job requires knowledge and skills that are usually acquired through a relevant, completed degree with a standard period of study of up to 4 years in the area of aeronautics, mechanical engineering and related subject-specific additional qualifications or completed vocational training with a corresponding particularly extensive subject-specific additional qualification. The total required knowledge and experience may have been acquired in other ways

Required Expertise

  • Knowledge and experience in the above mentioned areas
  • Knowledge and experience in design/development and equipment integration (avionic, inboard, outboard) or structure stress are a good basis
  • Knowledge of stress calculation software Abaqus, Hypermesh, Samcef is beneficial
  • First experience with mass properties calculations in aeronautics would be useful
  • Knowledge of helicopters, aircraft architecture, flight missions is a plus
  • Proficiency on design software CATIA V5 is a plus
  • Experience in project management is advantageous
  • An analytical and structured way of working is required
  • Strong in communication and great team player
  • Proactivity and autonomy are a must
  • An advanced level in English and German is a must, good level in French would be a plus
  • Willingness to travel domestically and abroad
