Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Market Analysts, Traders, and Originators in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Monitor and interpret weather data to provide accurate forecasts.
- Develop databases of meteorological data for analysis and model back testing.
- Stay updated with advancements in weather forecasting technology and research.
- Communicate effectively within the team; meteorologists and markets start early in the morning.
- Based at our headquarters in Essen, with options for remote work and occasional travel within Europe.
Role Qualifications
- Experience with numerical weather prediction models and synoptic forecasting.
- Knowledge of weather and climate models and data formats.
- Experience in synoptic weather forecasting in sectors like renewables, aviation, or civil services is a plus.
- Understanding of climate indices, teleconnections, and seasonal projections.
- Proficiency in time series analysis, multivariate statistics, Python, MATLAB, and MS Office.
- Experience in European, US, or global energy markets is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric, or Climate Sciences.
- Ability to work occasionally on holidays or weekends.
- Fluent in English.
