As General Manager, you will lead the strategic development, success, and growth of your site, balancing operational excellence and customer focus, with effective commercial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities of the General Manager:
Build a strategic plan for the year ahead, moving away from day to day by supporting the site leadership teams to achieve their objectives.
Use data to identify trends and actions to sustain, develop or improve the unit/site performance.
Leverage technology, systems, and people to drive improvements.
Responsibility for managing and exceeding site financial and operational targets.
Understand the detail and the various levers under operational influence and how they impact targets.
Support and develop senior-level client relationships where needed.
Involvement in the sales process to grow the business.
Be a confident and passionate advocate of our business.
Ensure we operate a ‘safety first’ mentality in our approach.
Manage operational teams ensuring they achieve their objectives through support, development, and feedback.
Lead on promoting the values and act as a leadership role model.
Lead the site Colleague Voice Forums and other Site communication and engagement activity to drive engagement, performance and continuous improvement.
Continually challenge the site structure, to ensure it is fit for purpose, with correct management ratios deployed, and with accountabilities and targets in place.
Create and manage development plans to ensure we retain and grow talent within the business.
Required Skillset:
Understands and can demonstrate the role of technology in operational efficiency. A high level of technical proficiency.
People and team focused.
Experience of delivering productivity gains.
Develops others through coaching interventions.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and planning skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Significant logistics and warehouse experience is critical.
