Jobbeschreibung

W3-Professur für Public Child Mental Health (w/m/d) (ohne Leitungsfunktion), Ulm

At the Medical Faculty, within the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychotherapy (Medical Director Prof. Dr. Jörg M. Fegert), the following professorship is to be filled as soon as possible: W3 Professorship for Public Child Mental Health (m/f/d) (without management responsibilities).

The candidate will represent the aspect of "Public Child Mental Health" in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, psychotherapy in research and teaching, as well as prevention and healthcare. Funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts Baden-Württemberg, as part of the structural support for the Competence Center for Public Child Mental Health at the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychosomatics, and Psychotherapy, this professorship aims to strengthen clinical and cross-sector research on the mental health of children amidst global megatrends, crises, and ongoing psychosocial stressors, promoting "preparedness" and rapid responses in line with UN guidelines for crisis management.

The target group, according to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, includes all individuals under 18 years of age, as well as young adults due to their specific vulnerability to mental health issues during the transition to adulthood. The W3 professorship, together with the W1 professorship at the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI) in Mannheim, aims to enhance interdisciplinary networking with national and international research consortia and committees.

The teaching responsibilities include instruction in child and adolescent psychotherapy, particularly in Public Child Mental Health, with a focus such as early childhood stressors (ACE) and challenging developmental courses.

The clinic emphasizes dissemination of expertise, so innovative teaching formats such as e-learning are expected.

Experience in prevention and/or intervention research and/or course of mental health burdens is desirable.

Targeted, structured, and low-threshold approaches to indicated prevention and early intervention, especially for adolescents, should be further developed. Participation in healthcare delivery in this area is required.

Applicants should have a relevant medical qualification, e.g., specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry/psychotherapy or licensure in child and adolescent psychotherapy or adult psychotherapy, along with a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude, a doctorate, and additional relevant scientific achievements (§ 47 LHG).
