The Rostock University Medical Center offers, jointly with the Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen e.V. (DZNE), a W2 professorship for Multimodal Sensor and Analytics Systems in Dementia Research within the framework of a joint appointment according to the Jülich model.
The professorship aims to support the implementation of engineering and neuroscientific innovations in healthcare, with a focus on neurosciences and the Centre for Transdisciplinary Neurosciences Rostock (CTNR). The candidate will further develop research in "Multimodal Sensor and Analytics Systems in Dementia Research," focusing on digital health technologies for monitoring and assisting individuals with neurodegenerative and dementia-related diseases.
Responsibilities include the conception of a Clinical Trial Unit with a Smart Home Lab by 2029, development of sensor and data integration, multimodal data analysis, and incorporating user-centered methods to develop patient-oriented sensor environments and feedback systems, considering ethical, legal, and social aspects (ELSA).
The research aims to develop networked monitoring and sensor technologies tailored to the needs of patients, caregivers, and stakeholders, emphasizing interoperability, data fusion, scalability, and user acceptance. The candidate should involve future users through participatory design approaches.
The candidate will contribute to the Interdisciplinary Faculty of the University of Rostock, particularly in the departments "Ageing of Individuals and Society" (AGIS) and "Knowledge - Culture - Transformation" (WKT), and collaborate with the Fraunhofer-Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD and other related entities.
Requirements include a degree and PhD in engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related fields, with demonstrated achievements in relevant research areas. The appointment is joint, with a full professorship, and includes a leave of absence to DZNE. The position is unlimited and based on § 61 LHG Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (M-V).
