VP Global Software Engineering

In this position you will be responsible for Global Software Engineering and you will report into the Senior VP Value Stream Machines. You will manage a Global team of 100+ software engineers based in Asia, Europe and US. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic direction, development, and delivery of software that enhances the functionality and reliability of our medical devices, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.

Tasks

1. Provide leadership for the Global Software Engineering function to ensure delivery of project targets on-time, in cost and with expected quality.
2. Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware engineering, verification, systems engineering, product management, QARA and other departments to ensure seamless integration of software components and delivery of robust machine functionalities.
3. Lead and inspire a diverse global team of software engineers, fostering ownership, commitment and collaboration. Drive change towards a performance-driven culture with focus on delivery and outcomes.
4. Globally harmonize and sustainably improve software development capabilities in VS machines (full set of processes, methods, data organization, tools).
5. Keep ahead of the latest market technologies, processes, and methods and continually improve engineering efficiency.
6. Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of software for medical devices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
7. Drive the adoption of modern software development methodologies, tools, and practices to enhance productivity and quality.
8. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand market trends, customer needs, and technological advancements.
9. Spearhead the conceptualization and implementation of groundbreaking ideas, to significantly enhance the cost-effectiveness and performance of our global therapy systems line-up.
10. Drive the design and development of software that precisely deliver the functionalities outlined in development inputs, ensuring a seamless translation of conceptual ideas into tangible, high-performing elements.
11. Actively lead the execution of innovations outlined in the Value Stream Machines product roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and maintaining a proactive approach to technological advancements in the medical product landscape.
12. Ensure all software development processes adhere to relevant regulatory requirements, including FDA and ISO standards.
13. Implement robust quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and safety of software products.

Profile

1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience in a senior global or regional leadership role overseeing global software engineering teams.
3. Extensive experience in the software development of medical devices or other highly regulated industries such as automotive.
4. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
6. Skilled in building effective teams and manage internal and external stakeholders.
7. Excellent in setting clear directions for others in times of uncertainty, change and transformation.
8. Strong in mobilizing and coaching others to initiate and drive change.
9. Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
10. High customer and team orientation as well as strong communication skills.
11. Proactive, result- and solution-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset.
12. High language proficiency in English (spoken & written).
13. Advanced certifications in software engineering or project management would be a plus.
14. Willingness to travel globally.
