The assessment will be carried out between 7th and 24th of February 2026.

It shall serve the development of targeted management recommendations for the biosphere reserve, enhancing the sustainable use of natural resources and the preservation of its biological diversity.

Call for International Volunteer Experts

To complement the national expert teams, we are looking for international volunteer experts for the following taxonomic groups:

  • Vascular plants
  • Insects (butterflies, beetles, ants, dragonflies)
  • Amphibians
  • Freshwater fish

During the assessment, the experts will perform fieldwork in remote areas using agreed sampling methods, document findings, and closely collaborate with national experts.

For preparation (collaborative development of sampling design) and post-assessment work (basic data analysis, drafting taxon-specific sections for the joint technical report, photo filing etc.) a time-equivalent of 6 days are foreseen.

The completion of any post-assessment work is planned for the end of May 2026.

Support Provided

Although NABU does not offer expert fees for participants in the assessment, all travel-related expenses will be covered.

NABU will be responsible for providing basic accommodation (camping), meals, field transport as well as general preparatory- and logistical support.

More information will be made available with selected experts after the application procedure.
