Within the Administration Department, the Finance Division supports the overall EUMETSAT mission by coordinating the financial planning and budgeting process, collecting the organisation’s revenue, ensuring the safe keeping of its funds, executing and accounting for all financial transactions, and advising and reporting on financial matters, in accordance with the Financial Rules and applicable accounting standards.

Working within the Accounting Section of the Finance Division, under the supervision of the Accounting Officer, the Accountant plays a key role in accounting activities related mainly to Asset Accounting, Accounts Receivables, and Tax Reimbursement Processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service attitude, combining accounting and administrative skills, with the ability to organize, coordinate, and communicate effectively internally and externally.

Duties
  • Verify, compute, and account for assets within the SAP system, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing activities.
  • Manage the issuing, accounting, and reporting of Accounts Receivables within SAP.
  • Handle the Tax Reimbursement Process in line with the organisation's Protocol on Privileges and Immunities.
  • Account for investments and bank entries.
  • Manage the accounting of pension special account entries.
  • Serve as the point of contact for internal customers and external parties.
  • Support and advise on system support packages and enhancements for SAP Assets, Cash Management, and Accounts Receivables modules.
  • Maintain process documentation and support system changes or developments.
  • Assist with verification, computation, and accounting of travel expenses.
  • Support the Accounting Officer in other financial matters as required.
Skills And Experience
  • Proven experience in accounting, preferably in the public sector.
  • Practical experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Experience in asset accounting is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, under time pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Employment Conditions

The initial contract will be for 4 years, with subsequent 5-year contracts based on performance and organisational needs. There is no limit to follow-up contracts until the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63, offering long-term career prospects.

This position is graded B4/B6 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary is €5459/month (net of internal tax, excluding pension and insurances), negotiable based on skills and experience. Salaries are reviewed annually by the EUMETSAT Council.
