Job summary

terralayr is hiring a Visiting Financial Analyst (m/f/d) to join the finance team in Berlin or London for 4-6 months. This internship offers hands-on experience in strategic financial planning, project finance, and cross-functional initiatives within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

We seek a motivated student or graduate with a finance-related degree, strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related quantitative field.
• Experience in demanding, finance-focused environments such as Investment Banking, Private Equity, or fast-paced startups is preferred.
• Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills with the ability to create clear, professional presentations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decisions.
• Support project financing processes, including due diligence, information memoranda, and ad-hoc analysis.
• Collaborate with departments to gather, analyze, and interpret financial data.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial models and dashboards.
• Assist in presentations and reports for senior leadership.

The over-indexing of electricity generation from renewable energy sources leads to large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and, by definition, unsteady—there is no sun at night, and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match.
By buying and developing grid-scale storage assets and virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. What you will work on - Your Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements
• Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making
• Support project financing process, such as Due Diligence, Information Memorandum and ad-hoc financial analysis and presentation
• Work with various departments to gather, analyze, and interpret financial data
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial models and dashboards
• Support presentations and reports for senior leadership

What we are looking for - Your Qualifications

• Education: You are currently pursuing or already have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field from a top-tier university or business school.
• Experience: You have first work experience in demanding, finance-focused environments such as Investment Banking, Private Equity, or a fast-paced Startup. You possess a solid understanding of financial modeling and project finance metrics.
• Technical Skills: You are highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. You enjoy structured financial analysis and have an eye for creating clear, professional presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Mindset: You are a proactive team player with a self-starter mindset and great organizational skills. You feel comfortable in a dynamic environment and maintain a reliable, detail-oriented work style even when things get busy.
• Communication: You have strong interpersonal skills and can explain complex financial topics in an accessible way. Professional fluency in English is a must; fluency in German is a strong asset for navigating local regulatory and grid-related documentation.
• Bonus: Initial exposure to energy markets or the renewable energy sector would be a great addition.
