Job Description:

About Us

Symrise is a global supplier of fragrances, flavors, food, nutrition, and cosmetic ingredients. Its clients include manufacturers of perfumes, cosmetics, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and producers of nutritional supplements and pet food.

Its sales of €4.7 billion in the 2023 fiscal year make Symrise a leading global provider. Headquartered in Holzminden, Germany, the Group is represented by more than 100 locations worldwide.

Symrise works with clients to develop new ideas and market-ready concepts for products that form an integral part of daily life. Economic success and corporate responsibility are intertwined in this process.

Your Role

The Head of Corporate Controlling will play a key leadership role within Symrise's Corporate Finance Leadership Team, serving as a strategic partner and financial steward responsible for shaping the controlling landscape across the organization. This includes driving financial transparency, managing performance and efficiency processes, and enabling data-driven decision-making across all business units, functions, and geographies.

Reporting to the CFO, you will contribute to defining short, medium, and long-term financial goals for the Group, while developing the tools, structures, and standards needed to support a high-performing global Finance organization. As a trusted advisor on all matters related to the Group's performance, investment planning, financial governance, and risk/opportunities management, you will interact closely with the Executive Board.

You will actively shape the structure and capabilities of the global Corporate Controlling team, including mentoring and developing talent, establishing succession plans, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and performance within the Finance function.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and refinement of the Group’s planning and performance framework, ensuring robust budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning processes across all business areas.
  • Collaborate with business units, regional organizations, and central functions to coordinate resource allocation, target-setting, and scenario analysis.
  • Monitor and analyze business performance, evaluate sales and cost developments, identify efficiency levers, and develop insights to improve profitability.
  • Enhance the KPI framework and ensure its consistent application throughout the Group.
  • Oversee global cash-flow development and CapEx budgeting, introduce investment controlling standards, and lead financial aspects of M&A activities.
  • Improve controlling processes, reporting systems, and workflows to support management and external reporting needs.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the Executive and Supervisory Boards.
  • Manage risk and opportunity processes and provide related reporting within the Group.

About You

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Controlling, or related; advanced qualifications preferred.
  • Extensive leadership experience in corporate controlling or group finance within a multinational environment.
  • Proven track record in strategic financial planning, performance management, and business partnering.
  • Strong controlling experience across commercial, production, R&D, and G&A functions.
  • Experience with investment planning, CapEx governance, and financial due diligence for M&A.
  • Deep knowledge of IFRS reporting; familiarity with HGB and international tax structures is a plus.
  • Understanding of customer and product costing; experience in the fragrance or flavor industry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with BI systems and financial consolidation tools, e.g., Hyperion.
  • Proficiency in English and German; knowledge of French is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical skills and a pragmatic leadership style.
  • Ability to lead and develop international teams.
  • Comfort with change and innovation in financial processes.
  • High integrity, goal orientation, and organizational sensitivity.
