Our client is a medium-sized, expanding, family-owned company in the maritime and inland tanker shipping sector, headquartered in Hamburg. The company operates four locations across Germany and other European countries, employing approximately 110 land-based staff (m/f/d) and over 1,500 crew members on vessels. The annual turnover is around 500 million euros.

With a fleet of 150 tankers, they focus on the inland and sea transport of chemicals, liquid gases, and mineral oil products in Europe. They also manage a global bunker trade within their group.

Vetting Manager (m/f/d) in Duisburg

Reporting to the HSSEQ Manager, the Vetting Manager will be responsible for all vetting KPIs, audit results, and industry developments.

• Prepare, organize, and accompany vetting inspections under the SIRE2.0 and CDI schemes fleetwide.
• Follow up on inspections and implement corrective measures, updating procedures in the SMS and collaborating closely with the technical department.
• Promote and foster a strong safety culture onboard.
• Maintain clear communication with captains and onboard staff.
• Oversee daily fleet activities and operations, including cargo operations.
• Monitor and ensure fleet compliance with safety standards, legislation, and best practices alongside the HSSEQ team.
• Develop and review existing procedures.
• Advise the technical department during class surveys and dry dock periods.
• Review and develop navigational audit plans.
• Maintain and improve TMSA levels in line with SMS as a team effort.
• Participate in industry associations such as INTERTANKO.

Qualifications

Applicants should have experience with chemical tankers or have worked in an office role within a tanker shipping company, or possess equivalent experience. Candidates should be safety- and operationally-driven, passionate about chemical tankers, and capable of motivating people. Enjoy traveling and networking. Proficiency in German and English is required.
