The Helmholtz Institute for One Health (HIOH), a site of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) located in Greifswald, aims to explore links between human, animal, and environmental health. Our goal is to generate a better understanding of zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and the evolution of pathogens, which are critical for developing pandemic preparedness and prevention. The institute was founded in 2021 and hosts international and interdisciplinary research teams creating a hub for cutting-edge One Health research at the Baltic Sea.
As Veterinarian (f/m/d) within the EU-funded project “ZooSursy” (https://rr-africa.woah.org/en/projects/zoo-sursy-project-enhancing-zoon…), you will be part of the research groups “Ecology and Emergence of Zoonotic Diseases” and “One Health Surveillance (OHS)”, working closely with other scientific departments of HIOH Greifswald. The project aims to enhance capacity building, strengthen wildlife and livestock surveillance, and improve pandemic preparedness for emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases in Africa.

You will also communicate results to the local population and stakeholders and publish scientific findings.
Much of the work will be conducted on-site in Bayanga, Central African Republic.
