Do you like working in the dynamic environment of the trading floor? Are you experienced in high-quality analysis that contributes to the success of trading functions using your analytical skills and commercial understanding? If so, this role might be for you.

We are looking for a US Gas & Power Analyst | Trading Analyst to join our Hamburg office, within the Trading Analysis & Algorithms department.

The Trading Analysis & Algorithms department collaborates closely with trading desks, providing market insights, fundamental and quantitative analysis, and supporting commercial decisions across commodities. The Algorithmic Trading desk focuses on algorithmic trading and automated trade execution from intraday to long-term horizons.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis to support traders and develop proprietary trading strategies for US natural gas (Henry Hub) and power markets (PJM, ERCOT).
  • Monitor US natural gas and power markets, identify key drivers and regime shifts, develop price views, and communicate insights to traders.
  • Enhance market models and collaborate on model development and policy analysis.
  • Automate routines, procedures, and data analysis tools.
  • Lead and mentor junior analysts and working students.
  • Contribute to the department's analysis output and the commercial success of BU Trading.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, economics, engineering, mathematics, or physics.
  • 3+ years’ experience in US natural gas and power market analysis in a trading or commercial environment.
  • Experience with fundamental and quantitative models; ability to guide business-driven model development.
  • Additional experience in LNG markets or algorithmic trading is advantageous.
  • Strong statistical, analytical, and programming skills (preferably Python).
  • Fluent in English; German skills are a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to share knowledge.
  • Result-oriented, independent, reliable, self-motivated, and responsible.
  • Proactive team player eager to learn.
