Jobbeschreibung

Would you like to help shape the future of electrochemical energy systems and contribute your expertise in batteries, fuel cells, or electrolysers? At the Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics, Department of Electrochemical Energy Technology, you will develop solutions from cell to system, focusing on high efficiency, long service life, safety, comfort, and cost optimization. We are seeking two qualified and committed employees to join our team in Oldenburg.

What to Expect

At our Oldenburg site, you will investigate physical, chemical, and electrochemical processes to develop efficient, long-term stable components for HT- and NT-PEM fuel cell systems. You will apply advanced analytical methods to understand degradation mechanisms system-wide, and design electrochemical methods to characterize novel materials and components.

Your Tasks

  • Research the current state of electrochemical analyses for electrodes and membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs).
  • Conceptualize and implement methods for various electrochemical reactions (e.g., hydrogen oxidation, oxygen reduction), including preparing measurement protocols.
  • Prepare electrodes and MEAs using coating methods such as doctor blade and ultrasonic spraying.
  • Conduct electrochemical measurements of electrodes in half-cells or MEAs to assess performance and lifespan in fuel cell test benches.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and participate in scientific conferences.
  • Collaborate on project documentation and applications for third-party funding.

Your Profile

  • Master's degree in natural sciences or engineering (e.g., chemistry, physics, materials science, chemical or process engineering) or a comparable degree.
  • Deep knowledge of electrochemical characterization of catalysts, electrodes, and MEAs related to fuel cells and/or electrolysers.
  • Knowledge of good scientific practices.
  • Independent and structured working style.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
